Hi, I’m Rowan. I’ve just finished my A-levels and I’m currently at The Prince’s Foundation Diploma Year, Trinity Buoy Wharf, London.

In the past, art has been one of several subjects for me, so I’m excited to immerse myself in full-time art education, and to see how my thoughts and ideas change over the next few years.

I’d like to push myself to question more – to think about how we can use creativity in our day-to-day lives, and to start to understand why art can be such a useful tool. I’d like a space to record and share my journey as an art student – my own experiences, ideas, and trials from my creative practice – and to build a community where we can be excited and inspired by each other. I love the idea of finding inspiration in unexpected places, and I’d like to share some of my current recommendations for that too. I’d like this to be a rich, layered space with both practical thoughts and suggestions, and open-ended reflections.

During my first week on the Foundation Course, we were shown the Immaculate Heart College Art Department Rules, written by Sister Corita Kent, some of which really resonated with me - in particular, “Rule 1: Find a place you trust and then try trusting it for a while.”

Sharing my thoughts like this is very new to me, but I’m excited by the possibilities of what this space could become, so I’m going to try trusting this space. I hope you decide to join us.
